By 1984 as the structures evolved, Dr. Wole Olufon became the first President and served for six years while Dr. Ogunyomi was the first General Secretary. Dr. C. Mbadinuju took over from Dr. Olufon but did not finish his term in office. Alabo C.F.L. Membere followed as President after Dr. Mbadinuju and handed over to Hon. Peter N. Jiya. Prof. Bankole Sodipo took over from Hon. Jiya. While Hon. Jonathan Kish Adamu took over from Prof Sodipo and handed over to Chukwuma Augustin Justin Chinwo Esq. who at the end of his tenure handed over to Pastor Sunday Abayomi Akanni. Pastor Akanni handed over to the current president Mr. Alozie Chinke Echeonwu.
STRUCTURE OF THE FELLOWSHIP
CLASFON shall be organized under the following structural arrangements.:
- The National Executive.
- 6 Regional coordinators who shall be appointed in the line of the six regions of Nigeria.
- Branches.
- Chapters.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF CLASFON
The aims and objectives of CLASFON includes:
- To project and defend the name and person of Jesus Christ and the Bible through the members’ words, lives and practice in the legal profession.
- To see our work as a mission with a firm commitment to speaking effectively about the Gospel and its impact on problems of law and society.
- To practice the vocation of law as a calling from God.
- To provide for exchange of information and experience relating to the practical problems of the Christian Lawyer and the application of the principles of the Christian faith to current legal and social problems that affect members by: Publication in all forms in furtherance of the Fellowship’s aims and objectives. Organizing of the Fellowship’s meetings, National and regional conferences, seminars, lectures, workshops and other suitable activities that will promote the aims and objectives of the Fellowship.
- To encourage prayers, visits with, counseling and such activities of the Fellowship for all persons connected with the legal profession.
- To pursue the path of truth, justice, honour, righteousness and integrity and, towards this, to do all things possible to influence legislation, interpretation and execution of laws for the benefit of mankind.
- To strive for the highest professional ethics in the practice of the law by manner of conduct and proclamation.
- To support Christian Law students at the Universities, the Nigerian Law Schools, and other allied tertiary institutions.
- To support the welfare of members.
- To provide spiritual, professional and material support for prisoners of all categories, and the vulnerable in the Society and to enable them know and enjoy the saving grace of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
- To collaborate with persons and organizations within and outside Nigeria in the pursuit of similar goals and objectives.
STATEMENT OF FAITH.
- We believe in one God, the maker of all things, eternally existing, in the Trinity of the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit.
- We believe the Bible in its entirety to be the inspired Word of God, and the only infallible rule of faith and conduct.
- We believe in the resurrection of the dead, the eternal happiness of the saved with God and the eternal damnation of the unsaved with Satan.
- We believe in the personal salvation of everyone who acknowledges, confesses and forsakes his sin and exercises faith (belief) in the sacrifice of JESUS CHRIST for the cleansing of sins through His blood.
- We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit accompanied by the initial evidence or sign of speaking in tongues as the spirit of God gives utterance as distinct from the new birth.
- We believe in the Christian's hope the imminent personal and visible return of the Lord JESUS CHRIST.
